What should I wear?
Maternity Photography Session
For maternity sessions I suggest having three or four options ready, if not more.
If you are planning to have areas of exposed skin: At least two hours before our shoot, please try to remove anything with elastic such as a tight shirt, pants, underwear or a bra to prevent strap marks from appearing on your skin.
Make-up should be light and natural looking. A light foundation, blush etc. to even out skin tones is perfect. Too much eyeliner or eye shadow can look very dark in photographs. Special jewelry is a nice accessory to the photographs, though too much jewelry can be distracting. If you have any questions, just bring it along.
Hair should be fixed so you are comfortable with it. Some mothers prefer to go to a stylist before the shoot; others prefer to fix their hair on their own.
If you are being photographed with your partner, please have them bring or wear dark pants and a solid dark shirt, long or short sleeved is fine. Mothers should bring a dark maternity skirt, and black cardigan sweater and tank top, something to cover the breasts but still expose the belly

Infant, Children, Family or Couples Photography Session
For babies and children, I only suggest a couple of changes, but this depends entirely on your child's mood and temperament. Clothing should be a solid color except white, without writing or branding, unless that is the purpose of the shoot. If in doubt, just bring it and we can decide while we are shooting.
Make-up and jewelry are fine, though lots of jewelry can be distracting. But if in doubt just bring it and we can decide when we are shooting.
If we are taking partially and or nude photographs with a baby, please try to remove anything (from both of you) with elastic such as a tight shirt, pants, underwear or a bra at least two hours before our shoot. This is to prevent strap marks from appearing on your skin. only the family should be present to prevent distractions.

Clothing should be a solid color except white. I suggest you bring 2-3 of your favorite outfits and your cap and gown if you wish to have a formal pose. Make-up and jewelry are fine, though lots of jewelry can be distracting. But if in doubt just bring it and we can decide when we are shooting.

Where will the session be?
When possible I prefer to use natural light, both for it's beauty and because it is provides a more relaxed environment. I will do sessions conveniently in your home or at a location that is special to you. During the summer months many of my clients like to do a mixture of indoor and outdoor photos. I am happy to make arrangements for this as I love variety and change within a session.

How many poses do I get?
I do not put any limit on poses or outfit changes.

How long will my session be?
The length of your session depends on the type of shoot you choose. Sessions typically last approximately two hours. It is very important to me that you do not feel rushed. The more relaxed you are, the easier it is to get good pictures.
Because I am a small and personal business, my business is built on relationships. I like to have a conversation before the session with all my potential clients about what you are looking for in order to better tailor each session for you. It helps me to get to know your personality and to know what you will be comfortable with. I want to be able to "catch" your essence in just one shoot. These days, time is very precious and I don't want to waste yours or mine with a re-shoot.

Can I bring someone with me?
You are welcome to bring partners, children and pets. However, the less distraction, the better.

When do I need to schedule my session?
Schedule your shoot eight to ten weeks before your due date. Schedule your photo session on a day that you, your partner, and your children (if they are going to be in the shoot) will be relaxed and well rested. Try not to schedule too many appointments on that day either before or after the shoot.

Other than appearance and clothing, what do I need to do to prepare for my session?
Eat a light snack before the shoot.
Schedule your photo session on a day that you and/or your children will be relaxed and well rested. Find a time that will work well with naps. Babies and toddlers are often at their best right after a nap. Have everyone eat a light snack before the shoot. There is time during the shoot for breast feeding if it is needed.
Bring the babies and children's favorite toys to help distract them if they should become fussy.

What is a typical in-home session like?
I like to start by looking at the space to see if there is anything that catches my eye. Everyone's home is different. Some people have many spaces which will photograph well, others may only have one or two. I bring a portable backdrop system to each shoot, so that we can get classic photos along with those which incorporate your home. Before we begin taking photos, we will also go over your wardrobe choices.

How many final images will I see?
Most sessions will end up with 30-60 images to choose from.
